Status of customs deterrence of IP infringing goods in the first half of 2024

The Ministry of Finance (MOFCOM) has announced the status of the seizure of counterfeit branded goods and other IP infringing goods at customs offices across the country in the first half of 2024.
The number of cases of importation injunctions was 17,334, accounting for 94.5% of the total number of cases of trademark infringing goods such as counterfeit branded goods.
This is an increase of 15.2% compared to the same period last year.
This was followed by 685 cases of copyright infringing goods, accounting for 3.7% of all cases and an increase of 82.2% compared to the same period last year.
In terms of the number of import injunctions by country, 14,704 cases originated in China, accounting for approximately 80% of the total, a high level.
Other countries include Vietnam with 1,621 cases (up 8.9% or 34.7%), followed by Malaysia with 566 cases (up 3.1% or 1,564.7%) and South Korea with 488 cases (up 2.7% or 46.5%).
